Scholarships

D.A.R.T. is blessed to offer two scholarship opportunities: the BMW Motorcycle Owners Association’s Paul B. Memorial Scholarship, (https://www.bmwmoa.org/page/paulb) and the R. Nick Leslie Memorial Scholarship offered by Ted Leslie, mybikerattorney.com. See below for more information.

The R. Nick Leslie Memorial Scholarship Fund was established in 2021 to honor the memory of a young man who personified “strength” during his short lifetime. The son of Ted and Lydia Leslie of Edmond, Oklahoma, Nick fought through childhood cancer and endured great physical suffering during and after his battle, but lived life to the fullest with faith in God and a zest for experiences. ‘No regrets” was the motto he and his family adopted, and Nick pursued athletics, education, woodworking and other outdoor and creative pursuits with vigor.

Nick also loved motorcycles, starting with a dirt bike his dad bought him when he was four. Nick had what his family called a “Buddy Bike”, a customized Harley Dyna Superglide, which he rode with his dad. Nick never gave up, fighting right up until he passed away during transplant surgery in 2019 at the age of 20.

Funded by Nick’s father, Ted, the purpose of the R. Nick Leslie Memorial Scholarship is to assist motorcyclists in pursuing their love of riding through skills advancement with Dragoo Adventure Rider Training. The scholarship will award grants of up to $250 toward the cost of participation in a D.A.R.T. training course. Applicants will be evaluated on the basis of need and inspiration.

Individuals interested in receiving a scholarship should complete the submission form below. Requests must be submitted at least 30 days prior to the D.A.R.T. class selected. We ask that winners agree to help honor Nick by sharing how they are able to benefit from the scholarship and how Nick’s story touched their lives.
