In spite of wet, muddy conditions, DART moto training at Overland Expo East was a big success. The Expo took place at REEB Ranch near Hendersonville, North Carolina November 9-11, 2018.

A steady rain on the first day of training allowed us to conduct skills exercises in the morning for both Level 1 and GS Trophy students, but by mid-day the ground was so slick that traction was virtually non-existent and afternoon exercises were suspended.   Kudos to the many riders who came out that first day and learned in the rain. After all, it’s adventure riding!

Day Two was sunny, and while we were still dealing with the aftermath of the rains, we managed a full day, training students in Levels 1 and 2 and GS Trophy Skills. At the end of the day, BMW Ambassador Shawn Thomas hosted the Slow Race, which was won by Nathan Masters.

The next day brought the excitement of the Skills Challenge, and seven worthy competitors braved the mud. Paul McClure came out the winner, receiving $300 in Overland Expo bucks to spend with vendors at the event.
